in the days of sail, orders aboard ship were piped on the Bosun’s Call,whose high-pitched whistle could be heard against the strongest wind.theregulation call, still made for the world’s navies and training cadets,is made of brass and copper with hard-wearing electro-plated nickelfinish (beware of cheap imitations!). for presentations and trophiesthey are gold or silver-plated, or simply polished brass and copper,and suitably engraved. the call is 10cm long. the matching neckchainmeasures 125cm long and is fitted with a swivel snap-hook.
